As of May 07, 2014 the registry Nominet has introduced a new regulation to ensure the use of correct and complete customer information for the domain registration under .UK, .CO.UK, .ORG.UK or .ME.UK.

Therefore, the contact information of all new domain registrations will be checked against public available sources. If a verification is not possible, the registry will send an e-mail with the request to correct the contact information or to send a proof of identity (copy of ID card or business license).

If the customer information cannot be validated after additional 30 days the domain will be suspended by the registry.

As of September 22, 2014 domains that can not be validated after the suspension will be finally deleted by the registry later on.
