Argentina's official domain name is .ar, which is managed by Nic.ar. Since 2020, any individual or company can register an Argentinean domain name, since the second level .ar ccTLDs were launched (because only third level registrations were allowed, such as .com.ar or .net.ar, among others).
The case of Argentina is curious, as they have gone from having almost 2,5 million .ar domains registered in 2014 to around 550,000 in 2020. This fact could be considered as a very accentuated loss of registrations, but it's very normal because until 2014 .ar domains were free, once the fees and controls by Nic.ar were implemented everything changed in the digital space in Argentina.
Slowly, given the increase in the quality and use of domains, their popularity is growing again. It should be taken into account that 75.81% of Argentina's population are Internet users, being an important factor when choosing the .ar ccTLD.
