Trust with three letters: .ORG

Friday, July 17, 2020

As one of the original generic top-level domains (gTLDs), .ORG has driven millions of voices and inspirations around the world for nearly 35 years now, establishing itself as a respected and trusted domain. It is one of the most popular domains available, bringing together communities of interest, representing groups and inspiring people to work together (e.g. as an organization) for a greater cause. In 2012, more than ten million domain registrations had already been recorded. Some of the best known organizations include Greenpeace, Unicef, WWF as well as the encyclopedia Wikipedia and the online dictionary Leo.

Only recently has it become possible to register this domain not only by non-profit organizations, but by everyone. The .ORG community has become very diverse and includes various types of organizations and individuals from a wide range of industries and fields of interest. These include professional associations, clubs, religious and cultural organizations, citizens' initiatives, families, socially committed companies, and many more.

The .ORG domain is also in no way inferior in terms of online security, reliability and quality. It was the first gTLD to offer full DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security) provision. In order to keep the domain trustworthy and secure and to prevent data breaches, the domain registry PIR (Public Interest Registry) continuously cooperates with partners from the domain industry.

PIR, together with its non-profit parent company ISOC (Internet Society), is committed to making the use of the Internet available and secure worldwide, investing more than 50 percent of the revenues from each domain registration.

Up until September 30th of this year you can register an .ORG domain that creates trust and a good reputation for 8,51* € instead of 13,81* €

7/16/20 The 69th ICANN meeting will be held virtually

The German domain community has long been eagerly awaiting the meeting planned in Hamburg, as the last ICANN meeting in Germany took place in Berlin in 1999.
Due to the consequences of COVID-19 and the recommendations of the WHO, this event will now also be held online as a "Virtual Public Meeting" from October 17th to 22nd, 2020. This will be the third time that ICANN has held a Virtual Public Meeting as a result of the pandemic. ICANN67, originally in Cancún, Mexico, as well as ICANN68, planned in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, have already taken place in this format. If and when an ICANN meeting will take place in Hamburg or Germany is not known yet.
